Dhoni’s untold story becomes highest earning biopic of Indian cinema

Similar to Indian skipper of limited overs Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s sixes on field, the biopic on his life too has hit a maximum. The makers of 'MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’ have claimed that the movies has become the highest earning biopic of Indian cinema. Since its release on 30th September, this Sushant Singh Rajput starrer has minted over Rs 112 crore.

The biopic chronicles the life of Dhoni, right from his childhood days in Ranchi to him becoming one of the most successful captains of Indian cricket team. The movie ended on a note which showed reel Dhoni hitting a six to get India its second world cup.

The movie kicked off to an amazing start at box office minting around RS 66 crore on the first day. On Monday (October 10), the movie added Rs 3.40 crore to his collection, taking the total to Rs 112.70 crore.

The movie was co-produced by Fox Star Studios and Arun Pandey of Inspired Entertainment. Vijay Singh, CEO of Fox Star Studios released a statement claiming that the movie is highest earning Indian biopic. He added that this proves how much people love their captain Mahi.

“This goes to show the love people have for Mahi and how they have been discovered, adopted and promoted the film. We are truly humbled with the response from his fans, cricket lovers and movie audiences alike,” read the statement.

According to the statement, issued on behalf of the film's makers, the demand for the shows have increased despite big releases like "Mirzya" and "Tutak Tutak Tutiya".

Apart from Sushant Singh Rajput, the movie also features Kiara Advani, Disha Patani and Anupam Kher in pivotal roles.
