After Bollywood biggies like Aamir Khan, Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt and Shabana Azmi posed with the sanitary napkins in their hand, the TV actors including Mouni Roy and Karan Tacker followed their league. The Naagin actress took to her Twitter to share a picture of herself holding a sanitary napkin in her hand. She further challenged Sanjeeda Sheikh and Aashka Goradia to take up the challenge. Karan Tacker, also posed with a sanitary napkin with his entire squad in a gym.

This movement on social media was initiated by team PadMan including Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor, Radhika Apte and Twinkle Khanna. It was started to raise awareness about menstrual hygiene and shun the taboos that surround the topic of menstruation in India. Many men posed with a sanitary napkin in their hand, accepting the PadMan challenge.
Anil Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao featured in a video, intended to spread awareness about menstrual hygiene on social media. However, posts from biggies including Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan are pending.
Akshay Kumar’s PadMan represents the struggles of Arunachalam Muruganantham, who is the man behind low cost sanitary napkin making machine in India. He took the initiative to spread awareness about menstrual hygiene in remote villages of India. He also provided low cost sanitary napkins to rural families who cannot afford sanitary pads.
