Set in the pre-electricity era, Odiyan will be shot using 3D technology. Odiyan is a shape-shifting assassin and south cinema superstar Mohanlal is said to be playing this character in the film Odiyan.

Touted as the biggest film in Malayalam cinema in terms of budget, Odiyan features south cinema superstar Mohanlal and how! The megastar looks very young, suave and completely unrecognisable in the motion poster that he unveiled on his Facebook page. In just one day, the poster has gone viral with more than 3 million views and counting. The motion poster has a haunting background score which adds to the beauty and gives us the thrills. 

Mohanlal plays Odiyan Manikkan, last surviving member of a long-extinct tribal community in Kerala. Odiyan, set in the pre-electricity era, will be shot using 3D technology. It is said Odiyan is a shape-shifting assassin. Already gaining a lot of buzz, the motion poster has added to the hype. Mohanlal posted on his Facebook page that he is lucky to have been part of many beautiful movies, which had lovely songs. He added that without those songs, many of his characters would have been incomplete.

Aashirvad Cinema's film is to be directed by VA Shrikumar Menon and has Manju Warrier as Mohanlal's co-star. The project is likely to be rolled from August. The film marks the debut of VA Shrikumar Menon. Shrikumar will also direct Mohanlal's Rs 1000 crore project The Mahabharata. The Malayalam Mohanlal will be seen portraying the role of Bhima in the big screen adaptation of Mahabharata. Actor Akkineni Nagarjuna will reportedly play Karna in this magnum opus. The film is based on MT Vasudevan’s book Randamoozham.
