The period drama Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi is doing a decent business at the box-office. The Kangana Ranaut starrer which declined on Friday, gathered momentum on Saturday earning Rs 5.25 crore. The film now stands tall at Rs 69.90 crore at the ninth day of its opening.
Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh writes, “#Manikarnika gathers momentum on [second] Sat... Growth on Day 9 [vis-à-vis Day 8]: 50%... Will cross ₹ 75 cr mark today [Day 10] ... [Week 2] Fri 3.50 cr, Sat 5.25 cr. Total: ₹ 69.90 cr. India biz. #Hindi #Tamil #Telugu”.
Manikarnika’s Republic Day box-office collection is the highest single day ever for a female-driven film.
Made on a humongous budget of Rs 125 core, Manikarnika needs to keep the same pace or higher as far as the box office is concerned.
Starring Kangana Ranaut, Ankita Lokhande and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi is a period drama that chronicles the life of the bravest woman in our history, Rani Laxmibai.
Kangana Ranaut plays the role of Jhansi Ki Rani and has impressed the masses. On the other hand, television star Ankita Lokhande is all set to mark her debut with the film as she plays Jhal Kari Bai who was the major supporter of Rani Laxmi Bai in the war from the British.
Ever since the announcement of the film, Manikarnika was surrounded by a pool of controversies from actors like Sonu Sood leaving the film to the script credits and threats from the Karni Sena.
