Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma are on cloud nine as their last offering Sui Dhaaga is touching skies in terms of box office numbers. The slice-of-life drama has crossed Rs 60 crore marks in six days of its run in the theatres. Also, it received rave reviews from the critics across the country with many praising Anushka and Varun’s performance in the film. To celebrate the critical as well as commercial success of the film, the entire team of Sui Dhaaga organised a success press conference in Mumbai, with special orchestra in presence. Talking about Sui Dhaaga’s business at the box office, the film managed to maintain a steady pace even on its day 7. In its first week itself, the Anushka Sharma and Varun Dhawan-starrer has raked in Rs 62.50 crores at the box office. Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote, “#SuiDhaaga has a SOLID Week 1... Witnessed strong trending from Day 1 to Day 5 [national holiday], but slipped on Day 6 and Day 7... Weekend 2 is crucial... Fri 8.30 cr, Sat 12.25 cr, Sun 16.05 cr, Mon 7 cr, Tue 11.75 cr, Wed 3.80 cr, Thu 3.35 cr. Total: ₹ 62.50 cr. India biz.”
Our film critic at India TV wrote about Sui Dhaaga: The emotions are in right proportions; neither too less to make it stone cold nor too abundant to make it look like a fictional story. Mamta and Mauji are as expressive as they should be. Even Mamta, who is married off to a man who’s not making a good living for himself, isn’t overdramatic. She’s calm, composed and daring enough to let her husband quit his job.
