Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s recent release ‘M.S Dhoni-The Untold Story’ is doing a commendable business at the box office. The movie has earned ₹ 41.40 crore at the box office within just two days of release.
Helmed by Neeraj Pandey, ‘M.S Dhoni-The Untold Story’ happens to be a biopic based on Indian cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni and is garnering positive reviews from the audience as well as critics.
Interestingly, as expected, the Dhoni biopic witnessed a thunderous start with an outstanding collection of ₹ 21.30 crore on the first day. With such a whopping collection, ‘M.S Dhoni-The Untold Story’ not just became the second highest opener of 2016 after Salman Khan’s ‘Sultan’ but also became the highest opener in the genre of biopics.
So far, Farhan Akhtar’s 2013 release ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ was leading the category which collected approximately ₹ 9.05 crore on the day of its release. It was followed by Priyanka Chopra’s 2014 release ‘Mary Kom’ with a collection of ₹ 8.4 crore on its first day.

In fact, it is expected that the movie will witness a major growth in the collections on Sunday and will make a business of over ₹ 60 crore in the opening weekend. However, it still has a long way to go before becoming a hit at the box office. Since the movie has been made on a massive budget of ₹100 crore, it has to earn the double of its cost of production to become a hit.
Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh, shared the box office reports of ‘M.S Dhoni-The Untold Story’ on Twitter.
Sushant Singh Rajput, on the other hand, is winning a lot of appreciation for his portrayal of MS Dhoni. In fact, the ace cricketer too couldn’t resist singing praises for the actor and said SSR has given an exceptionally brilliant performance in the movie.
The Dhoni biopic has also been declared tax free Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand.
Interestingly, ‘M.S Dhoni-The Untold Story’ is produced by Dhoni’s best friend Arun Pandey. The movie also features Disha Patani, Kiara Advani, Anupam Kher and Bhumika Chawla.
