Riding high on the success of Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, Kartik Aaryan has a gift for his fan on next Valentine's Day. The actor will be seen in desi rom-com Luka Chuppi, produced by Dinesh Vijan. The movie is set to roll this year in August.
Set in the backdrop of small town, the story travels from Mathura to Agra and Gwalior. While Kartik plays the star reporter of a local TV channel, Kriti is the upright Mathura girl who went to Delhi to study and is now back to her hometown. The movie is slated to hit theatres in February or March 2019.
Luka Chuppi is being directed by debutante Laxman Utekar, who was the DoP of Hindi Medium. Utekar has earlier directed two Marathi films- Tapaal and Lalbaugcha Raja.
''While Kartik is the quintessential good boy every girl wants to take home to mamma, Kriti represents today’s youth who advocate gender equality and have their own ideology,'' said the producer Vijan. Revealing his decision to choose Kartik and Kriti for the lead roles, he said, ''The dialogues have a touch of the local dialect and being from the region, both are familiar with the setting and the lingo. They also have a crackling chemistry.''
This will be Kriti's third film with Vijan after Raabta and yet-to-release Arjun Patiala. While Raabta is Vijan's directorial, Arjun Patiala, co-starring Diljit Dosanjh and Varun Sharma is being directed by Rohit Jugraj.
