Famous playback singer and Union minister Babul Supriyo is all set to tie the nuptial know with Delhi-based air hostess Rachna Sharma today. The couple got engaged a few months ago.
This is Supriyo’s second marriage that will take place today. He was earlier married to Rhea, but they later got divorced in 2006. Babul has a daughter from Rhea, named Sharmilee.
In an interview to a Bengali daily, the Union minister shared his experience of falling in love with Rachna and how he met her for the first time 30-35,000 ft above sea level.
“For the last two years, my fate seems to have been circling in the air. Strange things are happening 30-35,000 ft above the sea level. Seems like someone is sitting up there and writing the script of my life. It has happened twice with me," Babul told the daily.
“I got the Lok Sabha ticket when I was on a flight. Baba Ramdev was sitting next to me at that time. During the conversation, he offered me a chance to enter politics and also promised a ticket from Bhartiya Janata Party. Suddenly, an air hostess present there said that if he gets a ticket, he will certainly win the election,” he further added.
He then said that a few days later, he met the same air hostess on his way back to Kolkata. But, till this time, he had fallen in love with her.
“Äbout ten days later, on my way back to Kolkata, I met that air hostess again. But this time, she seemed special to me. It was probably love at first sight. I asked for her name and phone number within a few minutes of talking to her,” revealed the playback singer.
Babul further explained how he proposed Rachna and convinced her for marriage.
“I really liked her simplicity. In my complex life, this is the only X-factor,” he said.
“After that, I proposed her several times but she didn’t agree. Then I started writing and sending one song each day for the next forty days. It was then that she started noticing me. We dated each other for two years and then finally decided to tie the nuptial knot. We have already got engaged and will get married on August 9,” said Babul.
Supriyo also said that they have already fixed the plans for the coming five years. He told that they will celebrate their first anniversary in Kolkata and fifth anniversary in Mumbai.
