On Monday, a delegation representing the Indian film and entertainment industry met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and pitched for lower and uniform rates of GST for the fraternity. Interestingly, the delegation consisted of only the male members from Bollywood like actors Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn, filmmakers Karan Johar and Rakesh Roshan, Censor Board chief Prasoon Joshi and Producers Guild of India President Siddharth Roy Kapur. Well, this didn’t go down well with Lipstick Under My Burkha director Alankrita Srivastava and she questioned the absence of any female representation in her latest tweet.
PM Modi took to his Twitter to share a picture from the meet and wrote, "Had an extensive and fruitful interaction with a delegation from the film and entertainment industry. The delegation spoke about the strides being made by the film and entertainment industry, and gave valuable inputs relating to GST for their sector." To this Alankrita Srivastava replied, "Would be great to have female representation in these delegations. It is 2018."

Judging by the pictures shared by PM Modi and the Bollywood actors who were present at the meet, there was no single female representation. So in her tweet, Alankrita Shrivastava stressed how times have changed in 2018 with women being on par with men in all aspects of life, even in the film industry. According to a PIB statement, the delegation gave Modi an overview of the vast growth potential of the media and entertainment industry in India, and said that this sector is poised to contribute in a significant way towards the Prime Minister's vision for making India a five trillion dollar economy in the near future.
Sidharth Roy Kapur, who was a part of the past meeting, had told IANS in a recent conversation: "The main agenda to discuss with the PM was what the entertainment industry in India can contribute as a soft power of the nation around the world and how it would be wonderful if the government could encourage this industry in very tangible ways to be able to grow and thrive."
Well, do you agree with Alankrita Shrivastava? The female director walked a rocky road ta the time of her film Lipstick Under My Burkha release. She was up against the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). While eventually, the film did release, the FCAT got 16 cuts in the movie made while giving it the 'A' certification.
