Lipstick Under My Burkha got rave reviews from the critics around the country on its release on Friday this week. After garnering the superb reviews, the movie performs impressively at box office, owing to the number of screens (400 screens) in India. The film clashed with Tiger Shroff-starrer Munna Michael which also features Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the lead role. According to the Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the Alankrita Shrivastava-directorial witnessed a superb growth on Saturday.

On its opening, it managed to earn Rs. 1.22 crore while the earning almost doubled itself on Saturday, making up to Rs. 2.17 crore. The film garners Rs. 3.39 crore within two days of release. Sunday is also expected to see considerable growth in the box office collections.
Munna Michael on the other hand managed to earn Rs. 6.65 crore on Friday and Rs. 6.15 crore on Saturday. The film didn't manage to perform fairly, citing the fact that it was released on 3000 screens in India.

The numbers are further extraordinary owing to the tough competition it faced from Tiger Shroff’s Munna Michael. On the contrary to Lipstick Under My Burkha, Munna Michael released on 3000 screens. But amidst the competition, the film found its audience.
Lipstick Under My Burkha relates a hard-hitting topic of women empowerment and society’s prejudice for the Indian women. The story revolves around the lives of four women and residents of Hawai Manzil who are striving to get the freedom to be themselves in a small town. The film features Konkana Sen Sharma, Ratna Pathak, Aahana Kumra and Plabita Borthakur in the lead roles.

Munna Michael on the other hand is a entertaining movie,which is based around the life of an orphaned dancer Munna (Tiger Shroff) who is raised up by a chorus dancer Michael (Ronit Roy) in a Mumbai Chawl. He agrees to train a gangster Mahindar Fauji(Nawazuddin). Things take a bitter turn when they both end up falling for the same girl.
