Filmmaker Alankrita Shrivastava’s Lipstick Under My Burkha has released today but some prominent faces of Bollywood, who had attended the its special screening are in awe of the film. From Shraddha Kapoor to Kalki Koechlin, B-town divas has applauded Lipstick Under My Burkha on social media. The movie fought the battle with the Central Board of Film Certification which refused to certify the movie calling it ‘lady oriented’. Along with celebrities, movie is also receiving positive response from critics.
Shraddha took to micro-blogging site Twitter and tweeted, “So so so happy to see such an amazing film. Fearless, relevant, eye opening, liberating. Girl power all the way.”
Taare Zameen Par actress Tisca Chopra tweeted, “What a funny happy mad necessary film! Congrats.”
Interestingly, before fighting the battle with CBFC, the film was screened in many international film festivals and was lauded by everyone. In India, many celebrities came out in support of the film and posed their pictures with lipsticks on social media. It is yet to be seen how audiences react to this not-so typical Bollywood film.
The film has been bankrolled by Prakash Jha and presented by Ekta Kapoor. The content driven female oriented film stars Aahana Kumra, Konkona Sen, Ratna Pathak Shah and Probita Borthakur in pivotal roles.
