Lashtam Pashtam Trailer: Om Puri’s last film is about love and friendship that’s beyond boundaries

‘Ek Hindustani ka Pakistan me, aur ek Pakistani ka Hindustan me milne ka matlab hai: terrorist’, the trailer stars with  Om Puri trying to convince an Indian who has crossed the LOC to meet his Pakistani friend played by Padmaavat actor Vibhav Roy. Going by the trailer, the film Lashtam Pashtam, the title of which seems gibberish to everyone, is all about two people who knew nothing except love and trust. ‘Jab dosti ki thi tab yeh ilm hi nahi tha ki Hindustani aur Pakistani alag-alag hain’. Vibhav Roy as a Pakistani who is being accused of being wrong for befriending an Indian.

The film has been directed by Manav Bhalla and stars Om Puri, Vibhav Roy, Tisca Chopra, Samar Vermani and Dolly Ahluwalia in the lead roles. It is also veteran and National Award-winning actor Om Puri’s last film. The actor breathed his last on January 7, 2017.

Vibhav Roy debuted in Bollywood industry with Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh-starrer Padmaavat. Before venturing into the cinema, he worked in TV serials like Gustakh Dil, which also had Sana Aamin Sheikh in a lead role.

Talking about his first directorial venture, Manav Bhalla told DNA, “Lashtam Pashtam is a film that celebrates universal brotherhood. We were blessed to have a talented cast led by the legendary Om Puriji, who not only gave his best to the film but also believed in its theme. The movie highlights the values that Omji held very dear — as a human being and as an actor — peace and harmony, and is aptly set to release this Independence Day weekend. I will forever cherish having worked with Omji on (probably) his last film and my first."

The film is slated to release on 10 August.
