Mumbai: A string of sports stars and Bollywood celebrities have given vent to their anger over the collapse of a flyover in Kolkata, questioning the negligence and “corruption ingrained within us as a country” and stressing that it's "not an act of god".
The toll in the Kolkata flyover tragedy, which took place on Thursday, has risen to 24 by Friday morning. The disaster management teams continue efforts to find bodies and survivors trapped under the debris.
The flyover, which was still under construction, left scores of people and vehicles crushed under its debris.
Celebrities from diverse fields took to social media to condemn the accident and to pray for the victims and their families.
