Karan Johar clears air about Dostana 2, says ‘Lots of speculation which is entirely baseless’
Dostana fans have waited years for a sequel to the Priyanka Chopra, John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan film. Earlier, in the day, there came the reports that filmmaker Karan Johar’s Dostana 2, starring Janhvi Kapoor and Sidharth Malhotra, is already in the pipeline. Buzz has it that KJo has given his nod to Dostana sequel and the film is expected to go on floors by early next year.
"Karan Johar always wanted to make Dostana 2, especially after the first film worked so well. Now finally he has a script for the film, which of course will speed up production. As for the cast, Karan has finalised both Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor, and is currently looking out for the third lead role that will again be a male lead," a source told Bollywood Hungama.
According to the same report, the new Dostana film would be directed by Tarun Mansukhani, who made his debut as a filmmaker with Dostana in 2008. The bold comedy-drama was set in Miami and told the story of two men pretending to be gay in order to get an apartment with a woman. Well, before you jump the guns and raise your hopes high for the part 2, then there's a reality check here. Karan took to Twitter to REVEAL the truth as he said that there's no truth to these reports. He wrote, "Hello!!! All news circulating about DOSTANA 2 is untrue!!! Lots of speculation which is entirely baseless!"
On a related note, Karan Johar has finally announced the next season of Koffee with Karan. Season six of the show will launch on October 21 and air every Sunday at 9 pm on Star World. Sources inform indianexpress.com that the shoot for the show would begin soon.
Karan made the announcement of the latest season in his inimitable style. While he first posted an Instagram story that said, “Something’s brewing”, he soon made the big reveal. This season, the colour of the coffee mug has changed to a chic and classy black. KJo posted a photo of himself with the cup, “This season the Koffee is served BLACK! #cuprevealed #koffeewithkaran COMING SOON”.
