Grapevine was abuzz a while ago that actress Alia Bhatt has been approached for the fourth instalment of Golmaal franchisee, but nothing was confirmed about it. Now fresh reports suggest that Alia is not a part of the comic franchisee because of the tiff between filmmaker Karan Johar and actor Ajay Devgn.
Now, one may think how Alia is connected to all of this. As it happens, Alia has been mentored by KJo, she was given her big Bollywood break by him making her a coveted member of the Karan Johar camp. Now, the Golmaal franchisee stars Ajay Devgn as the lead, who is not in best of terms with Karan.
So, apparently as a sort of allegiance to KJo, Alia walked out of the project.
Doling out more details about this development, a source told a leading daily that Alia’s business manager had met Rohit Shetty (the director of the Golmaal series) and the dates were discussed. The only thing which was left was for Alia to sign the papers. But soon after the nasty battle of Ajay Devgn and Karan Johar, it was communicated to the makers that Alia doesn’t have dates.

In fact, Rohit’s office was reportedly told that Alia is busy with ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya’, she will sign another big project post that and then go on to film Abhishek Varma’s ‘Shiddat’ from March next year. This, therefore, meant that Alia doesn’t have dates in even the coming months.
Speaking more about it the source added that Alia owes her career to KJo, and it was a logical decision on her part. KJo and Ajay’s spat seeded on the clash of their respective movies ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ and ‘Shivaay’ became ‘nuclear’ after the latter made some explosive allegations.
Meanwhile, the makers of Golmaal 4 are yet to freeze the leading lady of the movie. There have been reports that actress Shraddha Kapoor might play the lead in this instalment.
