Bappi Da and son Bappa take offense over Karan Johar’s ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’

It is just another day and Karan Johar’s successful movie ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ has landed in yet another controversy. If media reports are to be believed, legendary singer Bappi Lahiri and his son Bappa have taken offense of a particular sequence in this Karan Johar directorial.

In an interview to a leading daily, Bappa said he and his father were upset over the hit song ‘Taki O Taki’ from the yester year hit ‘Himmatwala’ being parodied in the movie. In one scene of the movie, Ranbir Kapoor tells Anushka Sharma ‘Tacky O Tacky’ instead of ‘Taaki Re Taaki’, and this didn’t go down well with the Lahiris.

In his interview, Bappa said he doesn’t understand why KJo had to make fun of such legendary songs. The son said that instead of making fun of the hit songs of 80’s, kids these days should be proud of it. He said it was terrible for kids to make fun of the hard work of their preceding generations.

Telling about the bond Karan Johar’s father Yash Johar shared with Bappi Lahiri, that they worked together in ‘Muqaddar Ka Faisla’ and Dharma Productions, Bappa said that head honcho KJo shouldn’t have done that.

Revealing on how Bappi Lahiri reacted on the scene, he said, “ADHM was so bad that it hardly matters now. The only saving grace was that it showed more than 20 old songs on the iPod and then, they made fun of some,” Bappa said.

However, the reel Himmatwala Jeetendra begged to differ with this stand. While speaking to the leading daily, Jeetendra said we all should develop a sense of humour. He said both Karan and Ranbir are like his kids and would not do anything to offend him.

This is not the first time that a singer has taken offence from ADHM. Earlier Mohammed Rafi’s family was displeased with one scene and had moved Central Board of Film Certification asking how it made the cut.
