New Delhi: It started with a bang but saw a new low within a week. We are referring to the much talked about comedy show – ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’. You all know how post his fallout with the channel Colors, comedian turned actor Kapil Sharma moved on with Sony to make a new show.
The show, started with much pomp and show. There were endless promotions, chat shows and public interactions to ensure that Kapil regained his throne as comedy king of television industry.
Alas, all this noise faded away too soon. In the second week, the TRP ratings of the show saw a dramatic fall. As compared to the premiere episode which bagged 3 points, the second episode settled for 1.4 (reportedly).

It should be noted that the second week did not have any competition unlike the premiere episode when it aired along with ‘Bajirao Mastani’. Interestingly, in the TRP battle between the comedy show and magnum opus, the former had emerged victorious with ratings 3 and 2.8 respectively.
The shows which performed well last week in decreasing order are – Nagin (Colors), Kumkum Bhagya (Zee TV), Yeh Hai Mohabbatein (Star Plus), Saath Nibhaana Saathiya (Star Plus), Kasam Tere Pyaar Ki (Colors) and Ashoka (Colors). If we talk about reality TV shows, India’s Got Talent which airs on Colors emerged a winner.

Kapil’s show which features his entire on screen family, did not even make it to the top 5 shows last week. This week the episode will feature Saina Nehwal, and insiders have revealed that the show is a boring one. What further adds to the misery of Kapil is that the show has no celebrity for the next week after this one.
This is definitely not something which will make Kapil smile; the one who always brings out smile on other people’s faces. Let us see if with time, Kapil manages to change the dynamics and the show becomes a successful one.
