New Delhi: Actress Kangana Ranaut has completed 10 glorious years in Bollywood and is proud of her journey. Currently, the in and about of Kangana’s life is marred by controversy. If her ongoing legal tussle with actor Hrithik Roshan was not enough, her ex-boyfriend Adhyayan Suman added fuel to fire by saying that Kangana abused him physically and mentally.

Despite all these ordeals, Kangana is proud of what she has achieved in her life. Her first movie ‘Gangster’ released on April 28 in 2006 and she has come a long way since then. Kangana has experimented with her roles, and has three National Awards in her kitty.

"I am extremely proud of my rags to riches story, its fun to be a misfit or an underdog if you acknowledge your gifts and befriend your obstacles,”

Kangana told PTI reflecting upon her journey in the industry.

Proud of being a underdog, Kangana’s early filmography had films like "Woh Lamhe", "Life in a... Metro" and "Fashion", which also earned the actress her first National Award.

In between, she appeared in a string of flops such as "Shakalaka Boom Boom", "Raaz: The Mystery Continues" and "Vaada Raha", which almost pushed her into oblivion.

Her career got a new lease of life with the 2011 hit romantic-comedy "Tanu Weds Manu" and though she did some forgettable roles in movies likes "Game", "Rascals" and "Tezz", her performance as rebellious Tanu in Anand L Rai's film stayed with the audience.

Three years later came Vikas Bahl's slice-of-life, inspirational drama "Queen", which was not only a box-office success but gave Kangana a hold in the industry like never before.

The actress played an innocent bride-to-be, who is left at the altar by her groom, then goes on a self-discovery journey and emerges as a confident, independent woman.

Kangana's sincere and mature performance won the hearts of critics and audience, and also got the actress her second National Award besides making her the highest paid actress in Bollywood.

Her double role in Rai's 2015 rom-com "Tanu Weds Manu Returns" furthered the impact of her acting prowess, getting her a National Award this year. The top star now has films like Vishal Bhardwaj's "Rangoon", Hansal Mehta's "Simran" and Rani Lakshmibai biopic by filmmaker Ketan Mehta.

She may be caught in a controversy that could have a huge impact on her career, but the ‘Queen’ has sworn to not let anything come between her work. Kangana has been filming for ‘Rangoon’ and has maintained silence on the whole issue during public appearances. With her actions, she has come true to the saying, “When the going gets tough, the tough get going.”
