Hours before Kalank’s song Ghar More Pardesiya hit the internet, Alia Bhatt took to her social media to announce that she is very nervous about the first track. She shared a beautiful glimpse of herself from the song and wrote, “A song that gave me sleepless nights, days & months is coming very very soon.. I think you can safely say that I have never been SO nervous for anything in my life.. *screams frantically and hides under bed* You may have to send a search party to find me..Meanwhile watch this space for more..”
Set in the 1940s, Kalank also stars Varun Dhawan, Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit Nene and Aditya Roy Kapur in lead roles. The teaser, which was released recently, received a thumbs up from the audience. For unversed, Varun, Madhuri and Alia were not the first choices of the filmmaker. Karan Johar in his book, An Unsuitable Boy revealed that Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, Rani Mukerji and Kajol were the original cast of Kalank. ''When my father was alive, I was writing a love story set in pre-partition times. But the canvas was too large, it was supposed to have Shah Rukh, Ajay, Rani and Kajol. It was about homes, and it had a Hindu-Muslim angle. It was a very strong subject, and would be called Kalank,” read an extract from Karan's book.
