Kalank Box Office Day 3: Abhishek Varman's love saga maintains steady pace; earns Rs 11 crore on third day

Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan's magnum opus Kalank may have earned enough on its opening day to become the biggest opener of year 2019, but its struggling to maintain that stead at the box office. Right from the day 2, the box office numbers for this Madhuri Dixit and Sanjay Dutt starrer started dipping and how. The decline was massive and inevitable. On the second day, the earning decline by more than 50%, making it the sharpest decline of the recent time. With the opening day collection being 21 crores, Kalank earned around Rs 10 crore on Day 2. The numbers remained constant on the third day though. Friday, being a working week day, brough Kalank around Rs 11 crore at the box office.

Taran Adarsh announced the box office collection for Kalank and wrote, "#Kalank sees minimal growth on Day 3 [#GoodFriday holiday]... Big jump is clearly missing... Plexes better, mass circuits ordinary/weak... Now dependent on Sat and Sun to add to the total... Wed 21.60 cr, Thu 11.45 cr, Fri 11.60 cr. Total: ₹ 44.65 cr. India biz."

Kalank became the biggest opener of 2019 with the opening collection close to Rs 21 crore. It defeated the likes of Kesari, Total Dhamaal and Gully Boy to achieve this feat. Also, this Karan Johar production marked Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan's biggest opener ever. The duo has reunited for the fourth time with Kalank.

Kalank is a period love saga which is based against the backdrop of India-Pakistan partition. Alia is playing the role of Roop while Varun is her love interest Zafar. The film also stars Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapur, Madhuri Dixit and Sanjay Dutt.
