Actor Akhay Kumar won hearts when he played the role of a NRI businessman in ‘Airlift’. The film not only received praise from critics but also entered to the coveted 100 crore club. As the movie clocked one year in the industry, Akshay got nostalgic and shared an emotional message on social media.
The actor expressed his happiness for being a part of the film and also stated that it meant world to him. He tweeted, “Every actor has one film which means the world to him... @AirliftFilm is just that for me! #1YearOfAirlift.”
In the movie, Akshay played the character of Ranjit Katiyal who was a successful businessman in Kuwait. After Iraq invades Kuwait in 1990, he carried out a rescue mission to save fellow Indians. Actress Nimrat Kaur played the role of Akshay’s wife in the movie.
‘Airlift’ became the first movie of 2016 to enter to the coveted 100 crore club. After that, Akshay’s golden time started as both his movies ‘Rustom’ and ‘Housefull 3’ raked in huge moolah at the box office.
Currently, Akshay is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film ‘Jolly LLB 2’ that also stars Huma Qureshi and Annu Kapoor in prominent roles. The first trailer of the flick received positive response and its second trailer will be out tomorrow. The movie is slated to release on February 10.
