New Delhi: The Supreme Court today told Mumbai High Court to speed up the investigation in the suicide case of actress Jiah Khan.
CBI, India’s premiere investigation agency, was assigned to the case in 2014 by the Bombay HC.
Jiah’s mother Rabiya Amin, in a plea to the apex court, has accused the trial court of hearing the matter in absence of the special public prosecutor.
She further requested the top court to order a special team of officers (SIT) to the probe.
Jiah Khan, best-known for the film Nishabd, was found hanging in her Juhu apartment on the night of June 3, 2013.

She was dating Sooraj Pancholi, who was arrested by Mumbai police in the case and spent 20 days in jail before being granted bail.
The prosecution demanded Sooraj, who was charged for aiding suicide under section 306 of IPC, to be tried of murder. However, the actor has claimed innocence and denied any role in her death.
The Jiah Khan suicide case has seen many developments in the past few days and has opened up a chamber of secrets about the late actress’ life.
