Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti said she was appalled to hear about the molestation of Bollywood actress Zaira Wasim on board a Delhi-Mumbai flight by a co-passenger. Any harassment or crime against women should be dealt with swiftly and effectively, she wrote on her Twitter page reacting to Zaira's statement.
As a mother of two daughters, "I am appalled" at what happened with Zaira,'' she said. She urged the authorities to take strict action. The 17-year-old National Award winning Kashmiri actress of Dangal fame complained about her ordeal, claiming that a middle-aged man seated behind her moved his foot up and down her neck and back. Right after deboarding the flight, she took to Instagram to narrate her horrific experience in a live video. ''This is not done, I am disturbed. Is this how you’re going to take care of girls?,'' she is heard saying while wiping away her tears.
The actress even approached cabin crew but that went in vain. After the outrage, Vistara Airlines took to Twitter to put forward their side, ''We @airvistara have seen the reports regarding @ZairaWasimmm experience with another customer on board last night. We are carrying out detailed investigation and will support Zaira in every way required. We have zero tolerance for such behaviour,'' they wrote.
Even former Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir was infuriated with such an incident. He tweeted, ''The passenger should be identified to the police by @airvistara and a case filed for legal action. None of this 'he fell at my feet, so I forgive him' rubbish!'' Mumbai Police has registered a case after recording Zaira's statement.
