The makers of Ittefaq chose to keep the film away from promotion but unfortunately weeks after its release, the movie has landed into trouble. Sonakshi Sinha, Akshaye Khanna and Sidharth Malhotra starrer movie which is a double murder mystery has got into a controversy for its poster. In one of the posters released by makers, we saw Akshay Khanna smoking and this irked the Delhi Health Department.
A strict compliance notice has been served to the makers of the whodunnit, Shah Rukh Khan, Gauri Khan, Karan Johar, Hiroo Johar and others for promoting smoking. The Delhi Health Department believes that the poster promotes smoking among youth. The notice reads, ''This promotional material poster of the film being publicised in media is in gross violation of Section 5 of COTPA ( Cigarette & Other Tobacco Products Act) 2003 as it promotes smoking. 5,500 youth in India consume tobacco daily and Bollywood films have a lasting effect on youths." The Additional Director(Health) Tobacco Control Departments said that even actors and distributors are liable to be prosecuted.
Ittefaq which remained away from limelight before its release is now hitting the headlines for something bad. We wonder why did the Department took such a long time to issue a notice.
