Sidharth Malhotra, Sonakshi Sinha and Akshaye Khanna starrer Ittefaq released on November 3. The suspense thriller, directed by Abhay Chopra is an official remake of 1969 movie with the same name starring Rajesh Khanna. While Sonakshi and Sidharth are playing the roles of suspects, Akshaye can be seen as an invetstigating officer. The movie which minted Rs 4 crore on its opening day has shown 35.80% growth on the second day. Ittefaq, as expected minted Rs 5.50 crore on Saturday due to word of mouth publicity. There are high chances of the flick doing better on Sunday.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the official figure on Twitter saying, ''#Ittefaq shows an UPWARD TREND on Sat… 35.80% growth… Sun should be stronger… Fri 4.05 cr, Sat 5.50 cr. Total: ₹ 9.55 cr. India biz.'' Earlier on the day of release, he said that the film had a slow start but it gradually picked up in evening. He tweeted, ''Ittefaq started slow, but picked up towards evening... Sat + Sun biz growth crucial... Fri ₹ 4.05 cr. India biz.''
The trailer of the movie has already created much suspense and now positive reviews are making people go for it. However, Ittefaq went on to be defeated by Hollywood's Thor. Chris Hemsworth-Cate Blanchett-starrer superhero movie earned a whopping Rs 9.91 crore on day 1. Interestingly, to avoid spoilers, the makers decided to go with a no promotion policy. In an age, when promotion is regarded a crucial factor of film's success, this decision is applaudable.
