If you loved the Irrfan Khan starrer Hindi Medium, you are surely in for a special surprise. The social comedy, directed by Saket Chaudhary was one of the successful films of 2017 and now, the film is all set to have a sequel. According to a Mumbai Mirror report, Hindi Medium part 2 is all set to go on the floors in August with Irrfan continuing in his role of Raj Batra, a rich Delhi-based businessman and a harrowed husband and father whose life’s goal is to fulfil his wife’s dream and get their five-year-old daughter Pia admitted to an English medium school even though they have both studied in Hindi medium and are none the worse from it.
However, the sequel will neither have Saba Qamar nor the child artist in the film, reports further suggest.
The other omission is director Saket Chaudhary who has earlier worked on films like Pyaar Ke Side Effects and Shaadi Ke Side Effects. “I have no idea about the film, I’m not a part of it,” he informed the daily.
"The story flash-forwards by a decade so five-year-old Pia will be in her teens now, around 15-16 years. The story will be a fresh take on the Indian educational system with little reference to the original”, a source was quoted as saying to the daily.
Hindi Medium was a social comedy that lays emphasis on some grave topics of ‘Right to Education’ and ‘confusing elitism with English’. Saket Chaudhary got too deep into the grammar of emotions and reality while dealing with English-fanaticism prevailing in the country. It speaks what it needed to, in full volume.
