Madhur Bhandarkar’s directional venture Indu Sarkar has got everyone talking. The political drama is reportedly based on the Emergency era, a 21-month period from 1975 to 1977, when Prime Minister Indira Gandhi declared a state of emergency across India. The first poster of the film, which was released on June 5, grabbed several eyeballs. Now, the second poster featuring Neil Nitin Mukesh is out. The actor will play former Congress leader Sanjay Gnadhi in the film and, the striking resemblance between is just uncanny.
The Wazir actor took to Twitter to share the latest poster of the film. In my most daring character potrayed on screen ever. #indusarkar @imbhandarkar . @IamKirtiKulhari @AnupamPkher,” Mukesh tweeted. Indu Sarkar features Supriya Vinod, Tota Roy Chowdhury and Anupam Kher in pivotal roles. Kirti Kulhari, who won accolades for her role in Taapsee Pannu starrer Pink last year, is essaying the role of a poetess.
Speaking about the film, director Madhur Bhandarkar said, “Indu Sarkar is definitely on Emergency. One should wait for the trailers to know the political reaction about it. I travelled back 42 years and the shoots were wrapped up in 41-day time. The film talks about how freedom of expression and civil liberties were suppressed during those times. Emergency is a subject which today's generation does not know”.
On the work front, Neil Nitin Mukesh is currently shooting for Rohit Shetty’s Golmaal Again. He will also be seen in Prabhas starrer Saaho in which he will be donning the villain’s hat. He last played a baddie in Amitabh Bachchan and Farhan Akhtar starrer Wazir in 2016.
