There’s great news for Hrithik Roshan fans, as the handsome hunk has just been nominated in the Best Actor category for Kaabil at the Westpac IFFM Awards in Melbourne. Yesterday, it was announced that Hrithik Roshan is nominated in the best actor category for his film ‘Kaabil’ which came earlier this year. This award is meant to honour the superlative creativity and talent demonstrated by the filmmakers, actors and actresses at the IFFM ceremony. The jury will consist of five International and Australian filmmakers and industry professionals. This is the best of Indian cinema that made it to the nominations of IFFM this year.
Kaabil is a Sanjay Gupta directorial film which featured Hrithik Roshan and Yami Gautam as a blind couple (Rohan and Supriya) whose lives were devastated when Supriya is raped by men with political connections. She commits suicide and Rohan pledges to avenge her death. Released on 25th January 2017, along with Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Raees, Kaabil managed to rake in Rs. 205 crore on domestic as well as international box office. Despite, Shah Rukh Khan’s humongous fan base and being the biggest clash of the year 2017, Kaabil managed to cross 200 crore worldwide, which is quite an impressive number.
It becomes one of the highest grossing movies in the first half of 2017, along with Baahubali 2, Raees, Jolly LLB 2, Badrinath Ki Dulhania, Hindi Medium and Tubelight. The critical reception of the movie was quite impressive as well. Many of the critics called this movie ‘gripping’ and an endearing tale of courage and revenge. Hrithik Roshan’s performance as a blind and vengeful man was lauded by the critics across the country.
