Ace filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker’s magnum opus ‘Mohenjo Daro’ has failed to leave a mark at the box office. The movie has managed to earn just Rs. 55.06 crores in two weeks. Staring Hrithik Roshan and Pooja Hegde in the lead, ‘Mohenjo Daro’ held a lot of importance for the lead couple.
While the movie marked the Bollywood debut for Pooja, it was Hrithik’s big comeback project after a gap of two years. He was last seen in 2011 release ‘Bang Bang’ opposite Katrina Kaif.
Indeed, the entire team of ‘Mohenjo Daro’ is quite disappointed with the movie going flat at the box office. In fact, there have been reports that Hrithik is blaming director Ashutosh Gowariker for the failure of the movie.
As the ‘Mohenjo Daro’ team is trying to cope with the loss amidst the actor-director’s rumoured blame game, there is this one person who might be happy for not being a part of this periodical drama.
We are talking about Sushant Singh Rajput, who was said to play the main lead in ‘Mohenjo Daro’ initially, instead of Hrithik.
Reportedly, when Ashutosh approached SSR for his dream project, he rejected it as he was roped in for Shekhar Kapur’s ‘Paani’. Guess, he won’t be regretting his decision now.
Interestingly, Sushant had once mentioned in his interview that not just ‘Mohenjo Daro’, but he has let go as many as six movies for ‘Paani’.
Currently, Sushant Singh Rajput is busy with the promotions of his upcoming movie ‘M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story’, which is a biopic on Indian cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The movie is scheduled to release on September 30.
