‘Rishtey mein to hum tumhaare baap lagte hain, naam hai shehenshah’.
Iconic lines from a megastar who has given the industry films that has inspired film makers and characters that actors would dream to relive. The mere thought of these lines being recited by anyone but Amitabh Bachchan riles his true fans.
Nevertheless, as the trend goes, remakes are evergreen in Bollywood, and film makers are all game to give a modern touch to Big B’s cult classics.
We saw Shah Rukh Khan in the ‘Don’ remake. Then came Hrithik Roshan as Vijay Deenanath Chauhan in the remake of Amitabh Bachchan’s ‘Agneepath’.
And now we hear that Duggu will once again step into Big B’s shoes.
According to recent media reports, Hrithik Roshan has been approached for the remake of Bachchan’s 1988 release ‘Shehnshah’.
Though, there hasn’t been any official confirmation on this so far, but if the reports turn out to be true, it would be quite interesting to see Hrithik as the new ‘Shehnshah’ of tinselvile.
If we go by the critics’ reviews, despite being a commercial hit, SRK couldn’t impress the audience as ‘Don’ and failed to do justice to the original cult classic.
On the other hand, Hrithik Roshan’s performance was highly appreciated by the critics in ‘Agneepath’. It was reportedly termed as tribute to Big B’s 1990 blockbuster movie.
We wonder if Duggu will be able to recreate the magic of Mr. Bachhan in the remake of ‘Shehnshah’.
Currently, Hrithik Roshan is busy promoting his upcoming movie ‘Mohenjo Daro. Directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, the movie also features Pooja Hegde in the lead and is scheduled to release on August 12.
