New Delhi: The year 2016 is proving quite lucky for Akshay Kumar. The actor has given two successful movies so far and just can’t stop gushing about it.
His first release of the year ‘Airlift’ did a remarkable business at the box office and now his second release ‘Housefull 3’ is doing wonders.
Despite getting mixed reviews from the audience, the movie is minting crores at the BO.
‘Housefull 3’ has crossed Rs. 80 crore within its first week and is still going strong.
According to Taran Adarsh, the movie had also surpassed the first week collection of Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Fan’ which bagged Rs. 71.50 crore.
Not just the huge collection, the Akshay Kumar starrer has also created six new records at the box office.
1. Second highest opener of 2016
‘Housefull 3’ earned a whopping amount of Rs 15.21 crore on its opening day, making it as the second highest opener of the year so far. The first position is held by Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Fan’ which collected Rs 19.20 crore on its first day.
2. Best of the franchise in terms of box office collection
Sajid Nadiadwala’s franchise ‘Housefull’ has been quite popular amongst the audience. Every time the makers have come up with a new instalment, it has performed better that its previous version. ‘Housefull’ which was released in 2010 earned Rs 10 crore on day 1, while its second instalment ‘Housefull 2’, a 2012 release minted Rs 14 crore on its opening day. However, ‘Housefull 3’ turned the winner and managed to earn Rs. 15. 21 crore on the first day of its release.
3. Highest opening weekend collection of 2016
‘Housefull 3’ has surpassed all the major hits of 2016 to become the highest opening weekend opener of 2016. The movie earned Rs 53.31 crore on its first weekend which was higher than the collection SRK’s ‘Fan’ which was Rs 52.35 crore
4. Highest collection for third day in 2016
‘Housefull 3’ did an excellent business on its first Sunday and managed to bag Rs 21.80 crore. Interestingly, this is the highest day 3 collection of 2016 done by any movie so far.
5. Akshay Kumar’s second highest opening weekend ever
This is the second movie for superstar Akshay Kumar which did such a fantabulous business on its opening weekend. Earlier, his 2015 release ‘Singh Is Bliing’ was the highest weekend opener for Akki till now with a collection or Rs. 53. 67crore. ‘Housefull 3’ was quit close to the mark but ended up earning Rs 53.31 crore, therefore making it his second highest opening weekend collection ever.
6. Second Highest First Week Grosser of 2016
‘Housefull 3’ has been doing a remarkable business at the box office. The movie has earned Rs. 80.10 cr in its first week and has now become the second highest first week grosser of 2016. It is indeed a proud moment for Akshay Kumar has the first rank in this category is held by ‘Airlift’ with a collection of Rs 83.50 crore.
