Irrfan Khan's Hindi Medium has turned out to be yet another Bollywood success story in China. The film which was a surprise success last year and went on to become one of the biggest hits of 2017 had also received several accolades and awards that included best film and best actor for Irrfan. And now, after its release in China on April 4, Hindi Medium has hit the ball out of the park and has resonated so well with Chinese audience that it has earned north of Rs 100 crore in just five days of its release.
Hindi Medium had witnessed a huge fall on day 4, where it has earned $ 3.77 million – 24.47 Crores. The fifth day box office earning is $ 1.73 million – 11.21 Crores, which makes the total collection to $ 21.31 Million – 138.22 crores.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh revealed on Twitter, “#HindiMedium packs a SOLID TOTAL in *extended opening weekend* in China. Crosses *lifetime biz* [India] in weekend. Will be interesting to see how it fares on weekdays. Wed $ 3.42 million. Thu $ 6.29 million. Fri $ 6.05 million. Sat $ 3.82 million. Sun $ 1.74 million. Total: $ 21.32 million [Rs 138.42 crore].”
Interestingly, Hindi Medium film has broken the lifetime record of Aamir Khan's PK in China, which has earned 129 crores. Directed by Saket Chaudhary, this film also stars Saba Qamar and Deepak Dobriyal in key roles.
Altogether, Hindi Medium is all set to cross over 300 crores lifetime in India.
