As Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer Manto is all set to release soon, makers of the movie have dropped the first song of the film, Nagri Nagri. The track is based on a ghazal written by the progressive poet of the 20th century, Meeraji. Composed by talented Sneha Khanwalkar, it has been crooned by Shankar Mahadevan in an unrecognisable voice.
''Nagri nagri phira musafir ghar ka rasta bhool gaya. Kya hai tera kya hai mera apna paraya bhool gaya''. The timeless lyrics touch the soul and the video takes you back to the old-world charm. It reminds us of KL Sehgal and the way he used to sing. Watch the song right below:
Nagri Nagri shows us happy days as Manto played by Nawaz can be seen socialising with intellectuals of Mumbai.
The buzz around Manto started doing the rounds ever since director Nandita Das announced the film on the legendary contrarian writer Saadat Hasan Manto. His bold views about the society earned him a remarkable place in the history of revolutionary literature. Starring Rasika Duggal and Tahir Raj Bhasin, the film is slated to release on September 21.
On a related note, Nawazuddin Siddiqui was recently seen in Gadar fame Anil Sharma's directorial Genius, which tanked at the box office.
