Cricketer Yuvraj Singh broke a millions of hearts lately after he married his fiancé actress Hazel Keech in a lavish ceremony in Chandigarh on Wednesday.
While their wedding has become the talk of the town, Yuvraj’s new bride made the heads turn, not just because of her flawless look as the perfect Punjabi dulhan, but because of her name.
During the wedding rituals at the gurudwara, Hazel was constantly addressed as Gurbasant Kaur.
Yes! It’s true.
The Bollywood actress went on to change her name and religion for marying Yuvraj Singh.
Hazel, who is half British and half Indian, converted herself into Sikhism before marriage. She changed her name from Hazel to Gurbasant Kaur. The new bride was given this name by Saint Baba Ram Singh Ji.
We all know, Yuvraj and his mother are ardent followers of the saint and his dera. Looks like, the new member of Yuvraj’s family too has become a devotee of the saint. In fact, Yuvraj-Hazel’s wedding also took place in the presence of their Guru Ji.
Interestingly, Yuvraj’s father Yograj Singh chose to gave his wedding a miss as he doesn’t follow the dera and maintains a safe distance from it.
While he marked his presence in other wedding ceremonies, the newlywed couple visited Singh soon after the wedding for his blessings.
Yuvraj and Hazel’s wedding is going to a be a week-long celebration as the couple will soon be having grand function in Goa where they will get married as per Hindu rituals.
“Hazel has already chosen a red and gold Benarasi for the Hindu do. Yuvi’s final outfit is yet to be zeroed on,” a source told an entertainment portal.
This will be followed by a lavish reception in Delhi on December 7 which is expected to be attended by several Bollywood A-listers.
Well, here’s wishing Yuvraj Singh and Gurbasant Kaur (Hazel Keech) a happy married life.
