Amrish Puri, popular for his iconic character Mogambo in the film Mr India was the most respected actor and still remembered for his superb performances especially in negative roles. Amrish was born on June 22, 1932 and today on the occasion of his 86th birth anniversary we will shed light on few of his best performances.
Amrish passed away on January 12, 2005, is not only known for performing iconic negative characters but was a skilled theatre artist too.

Mr. India:
Amrish is still remembered for his Mogambo character in the 1987 film, Mr. India. With the popularity of this antagonist character, he soon became a household name. His popular dialogue Mogambo Khush Hua can still be heard by his fans.
Gadar: Ek Prem Katha
Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, couldn’t have been considered without its antagonist Amrish. In the film, he portrayed father of Sakina (Ameesha Patel). His dialogue from the film Itne Tukde Karunga Ki Tu Pehchana Nahin Jayega gained much popularity later.
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
He not only left the Indian audience spellbound by his negative role but impressed the international fans too. The actor was known for performing the character Mola Ram in Steven Spielberg’s Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.
Nagina
Nagina is considered as Amrish and Sridevi’s most remembered film. He was seen playing the character titled Baba Bhairo Nath in the film while actress Sridevi portrayed the character of Nagina in it. The trendsetting dialogue from the film Aao Kabhi Haveli Pe is still repeated by fans.
Karan Arjun:
Amrish Puri played the wicked Thakur Durjan Singh in the film Karan Arjun. In the film Amrish killed the protagonist’s father, which led to further revenge and fight between the actor and the villain. The dialogue from the film Karan Arjun, Main toh samajhta tha ki duniya mein mujhse badhkar kamina aur koi nahin hain, became quite popular.
