The makers of Akshay Kumar-starrer Gold have released new poster for the film on social media today. Akshay essays the role of a Bengali hockey player in the pre-Indian independence era. The Reema Kagti film traces the journey of a player who wants to win an Olympic Gold in hockey for independent India, not British India.
Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar’s production banner Excel Entertainment shared the new poster on its Twitter Handle, writing, “5th August, 1936- Berlin Olympics. Uss din Tapan Das ko pata chala ki apna desh ghulam ho, toh kaisa lagta hai. #Gold@akshaykumar @FarOutAkhtar @ritesh_sid @kagtireema @Roymouni @kapoorkkunal @TheAmitSadh @ItsVineetSingh @SunnyK0 @SachinJigarLive.
The newly released Gold promo showed how one man's dream led Britishers to stand up for Indian national anthem after 200 years.
Sharing the recent Gold poster, Farhan Akhtar said, “All victories begin with a dream. It fills me with immense joy to present to you the official poster of #Gold, a film that is very close to my heart.”
Talking about the film, producer Ritesh Sidhwani had earlier told PTI, "It is not a biopic. It is a completely fictional story but it is set against a real backdrop between 1933-48 India about what the country was, the sports... About hockey. It is not based on any character."
Apart from Akshay Kumar, Gold will also star Mouni Roy and Amit Sadh in pivotal roles.
On a related note, after Gold, Akshay will be seen in Kesari alongside Parineeti Chopra. The movie is based on the Battle of Saragarhi.
