Actor Akshay Kumar has hit a century again as his latest Bollywood offering Gold has crossed the Rs 100 crore mark. The Reema Kagti directorial has collected Rs 100.45 crore at the box-office on the thirteenth day of its opening. The period sports drama had collected Rs 99 crores at the domestic market on Sunday and on Monday, the film earned 1.45 crore taking the total to Rs 100.45 crore.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to share Gold Box Office Collection. “#Gold crosses ₹ 100 cr mark on Day 13... [Week 2] Fri 1.85 cr, Sat 3.10 cr, Sun 4.75 cr, Mon 1.45 cr. Total: ₹ 100.45 cr. India biz... Akshay Kumar’s ninth film in ₹ 100 cr Club”.
Akshay Kumar strikes Gold
Gold is the ninth Akshay Kumar film to attain the 100-crore mark feat. The 100 crore films of Akshay Kumar are Housefull 2, Rowdy Rathore, Holiday, Airlift, Housefull 3, Rustom, Jolly LLB 2 and Toilet Ek Prem Katha.
With Gold, Khiladi Kumar is now just second to Salman Khan when it comes to the volume of films in the 100-crore club as Khan sits on the top with as many as 13 consecutive 100 crore films.
Gold is the 8th Bollywood film of 2018 to enter 100 crore club
Gold has now climbed up the list of highest grossing movies of 2018 and secured the 8th position beating the lifetime box office collections of Kareena Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor starrer Veere Di Wedding. It has been going strong in the international market as well.
Gold, which opened to a thundering response, has been raking in the moolah despite locking horns with John Abraham starrer Satyameva Jayate which has also been consistently minting money at the box office.
Gold is a sports drama that traces the journey of a hockey coach named Tapan Das (played by Akshay Kumar) who dreams of winning a gold medal for independent India. The film marks the Bollywood debut of TV actress Mouni Roy and it also features Vineet Kumar Singh, Amit Sadh and Kunal Kapoor.
