New Delhi: Actor Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel’s Gadar: Ek Prem Katha completes 15 years of release today. Directed by Anil Sharma, the movie which released in 2011 went on to become one of the biggest blockbusters of Bollywood and is even today remembered for its storyline and powerful performances.
Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, has many feats to itself, including the most watched Hindi film in India as it recorded 5.05 crore footfalls in India. It was surprising even for trade pundits, to see that this movie became such a huge blockbuster.
Set against the backdrop of India and Pakistan partition, Gadar was the love story of a truck driver Tara Singh (Sunny) who fell in love with an aristocrat Muslim girl Sakina (Ameesha). Divided by borders and religion, Tara fights the entire world to reunite with Sakina.
In this movie, Sunny broke his shy image and impressed critics and viewers alike with perfect amalgamation of action and romance. His powerful dialogues still echo in ears of cine buffs.
