Bollywood actress Richa Chada managed to pull off that feat in the 2013 hit Fukrey, a tale about four slackers from Delhi who embark on some ludicrous schemes to get admissions on the sly to a swanky college. The film’s sequel Fukrey Returns, which hit the cinemas last Friday, has been growing steadily at the box-office. The film, which registered an opening day collection of Rs 8.10 crore, is all set to cross the Rs 50 crore mark at the box-office.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter and said, “Fukrey Returns is all set for a GLORIOUS Week 1... Biz is SUPER-STRONG on weekdays... Fri 8.10 cr, Sat 11.30 cr, Sun 12.80 cr, Mon 5.10 cr, Tue 5.05 cr, Wed 4.30 cr. Total: 46.65 cr. India biz”.
With no big release around, Fukrey Returns will surely rake in moolah in the days to come. It had surpassed the lifetime box office collection of its first part within just three days of its release. Fukrey (2013) had earned Rs 30.2 crore during its entire run at the box office.
Released on December 8, Fukrey Returns features Pulkit Samrat, Varun Sharma, Ali Fazal, Manjot Singh, Richa Chadha and Pankaj Tripathi, who have reprised their Fukrey (2013) characters in Fukrey Returns.
Speaking about the amazing response to Fukrey Returns, Richa Chadha aka Bholi Punjaban said, “"I am super thrilled and excited that this year has ended in such a positive note for everyone. It's something we worked really hard for and happy that it's showing the results. Who does not like box office numbers? But for a film like this, which was an underdog in the first part and even this time, no one really expected it to do well”.
