2018 was a lovely year for Bollywood. While several films with big star cast witnessed unexpected failure, there were some which became surprise hits. While you have or might not have taken New Year resolution, but Bollywood has already taken the resolution to entertain us more in 2019 with some unique stories and hit sequels. So, as you plan your New Year with your friends and family, read about the movies you should be waiting for in 2019.

SUPER 30

Super 30 is based on the life of famous mathematician Anand Kumar and his educational programme Super 30. The movie has Hrithik Roshan and Mrunal Thakur in pivotal role. It is directed by Vikas Bahl, however, after #MeToo allegations, he has been ousted from the project.

 

KESARI

Kesari is a period war drama starring Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra. Directed by Anurag Singh, it revolves around  Havildar Ishar Singh who fought in the 1897 Battle of Saragarhi, in which an army of 21 Sikhs fought against 10,000 Afghans.

 

BRAHMASTRA

Brahmastra produced by Dharma Productions is written and directed by Ajay Mukerji. The sci-fi film has Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Dimple Kapadia, Akkineni Nagarjuna, Divyendu Sharma and Mouni Roy in lead roles. The film has been extensively shot in Bulgaria, London and New York.

 

BHARAT

Bharat is being directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and has Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif in lead roles. The movie has an ensemble star cast of Tabu, Disha Patani, Sunil Grover among others. Bharat is the Hindi remake of 2014 South Korean film Ode to My Father. 

 

MENTAL HAI KYA

Mental Hai Kya is a comedy thriller starring Kangana Ranaut and Rajkummar Rao. Directed by Prakash Kovelamudi and produced by Ekta Kapoor, Mental Hai Kya's screenplay has been written by Kanika Dhillon. It is set to release on March 29, 2019.

 

 CHHAPAAK

Chhapaak directed by Meghna Gulzar has Deepika Padukone and Vikrant Massey in lead roles. In the movie DP will be playing the role of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. With Chhapaak, Deepika will also be venturing into the production.

 

MANIKARNIKA

Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi starring Kangana Ranaut is a historical biographical on the life Rani Laxmibai of Jhansi. The movie has been directed by Krish and Kangana Ranaut. It is scheduled to release on January 25, 2019.

 

STUDENT OF THE YEAR 2

Student of the Year 2 marks the debut of two newbies- Tara Sutaria and Chunky Panday's daughter Ananya Panday. The movie, which is the second instalment of Student of the Year franchise has Tiger Shroff in lead roles. It is scheduled to release on May 10, 2019.

 

TOTAL DHAMAAL

Total Dhamaal is the third franchise of Dhamaal series. Directed by Indra Kumar and co-produced by Ajay Devgn, the comedy has an ensemble star cast of Anil Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit, Ajay Devgn, Javed Jaffrey, Arshad Warsi among others. Due to VFX, the release date of the movie has been pushed to February 22, 2019.

 

KALANK

Kalank is an ambitious project of Karan Johar. The period drama starring an ensemble cast of  Madhuri Dixit, Sonakshi Sinha, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Kunal Khemu, Aditya Roy Kapur and Sanjay Dutt is being directed by Abhishek Varman. Pritam will be composing music for the Kalank.
