Friday 15 August Big releases: Gold and Satyamev Jayate in cinema halls today

With John Abraham’s Satyameva Jayate and Akshay Kumar’s Gold starting their run at the box office today, the audience is welcoming both Bollywood movies with open arms, especially when it is a holiday. While Akshay Kumar has been the undisputable king at the box office with his films on the Independence Day for a few years, this time he has solid competition from his Desi Boyz co-star John Abraham’s Satyameva Jayate. It would be interesting to see if audiences shower their love equally on both the patriotism-themed movies or one of them will manage to woo them more.

Good box office numbers and immense love from the viewers has made this year a blissful year for almost all the Bollywood movies. Since the start of the year, movies like Padman, Padmaavat, Baaghi 2 and Raid have impressed with their outstanding screenplay and phenomenal acting. Even the medium budget movies like Hichki and Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety have made an impact on the audience with full force.

Let’s have a look at what these two big Independence Day releases have to offer.

Gold

Akshay Kumar has gradually become the flagbearer of patriotism in Bollywood and standing true to his image, the superstar brings the perfect gift for his fans on 72nd Independence Day. Gold, which is set between 1936 to 1948, has Olympics as its main aim.  It all begins with 1936 Olympics when the team and its manager dream of singing their own National anthem instead of Long Live The King. The movie is about how a man beats his own weaknesses to realize his one and only dream, that is, to make India proud by bringing home Gold medal as an Independent country.

While the songs like Monobina and Naino Ne Baandhi has already hooked viewers, the trailer of the film makes it all the more intriguing and a must watch. Read our review of Gold and decided for yourself.

Satyameva Jayate

As the name suggests, this Milap Zaveri-directorial Satyameva Jayate is all about truth and its triumph over the unjust. However, things like these exist only in the pledges we take and the books we read. The film has intended to bring to life that asphyxiated yet alive notion of integrity, burrowed in a shallow grave in our heart. Going by the film’s trailer, it won’t be wrong to say that Satyameva Jayate is a Tom and Jerry chase between a serial killer Veer (John Abraham) and his brother Shivansh (Manoj Bajpayee), the latter unknown about the killer’s identity.

Even if one is not interested to watch the crime drama, it is hard to miss Nora Fatehi’s sizzling performance on Dilbar song on the big screen. The song has already broken all records and stands on a loop on everyone’s playlist. Still, read our review here, and see what Satyameva Jayate brings for you.
