Emraan Hashmi’s recent release ‘Raaz: Reboot’ fails to register growth at the box office in the first three days of release. The movie ended up earning Rs. 18.09 crores in its opening weekend. The Emraan Hashmi starrer couldn’t even touch the first weekend collections of its previous instalment ‘Raaz 3: The Third Dimension’.
Raaz 3, despite having mixed reviews from the critic, had earned around Rs 35 cr in its opening weekend.
‘Raaz: Reboot’, which happens to be the fourth and the last instalment of the franchise Raaz series, minted Rs. 6.30 cr on its day of release. It also witnessed a drop in the collections on Saturday and earned Rs. 5.49 cr, which was followed by the earning of Rs. 6.30 cr on Sunday.
The movie also starring the newcomers Gaurav Arora and Kriti Kharbanda in the lead, seems to be scaring the audience away form the theatres right from the day one.
Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh took it to micro-blogging site Twitter to share the first weekend report of the movie.
Apparently, this would be a big blow to director Vikram Bhatt, whose last three releases ‘Love Games’, ‘Mr. X’ and ‘Creature 3d’ tanked at the box office. Raaz: Reboot becomes the 4th to fail at box office.
However, the director feels it’s completely fine if the movies don’t work at the box office. In a recent interview to a media agency, Vikram had mentioned that although he was quite keen to try his hands on different ideas, it was not necessary that audience like what he does.
“Sometimes the ideas work and sometimes they don’t, but you can’t doubt my intentions”, Vikram was quoted saying.
‘Raaz: Reboot’ was released on September 16.
