Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan on Sunday said he and his wife Kiran Rao have contracted swine flu as he skipped an event of their NGO Paani Foundation today in Pune. Addressing the function through video conferencing, Aamir said he found out that he has swine flu after blood tests and will not be attending any event for at least a week.
"Today is a day of celebration but we are very sad that after hard work of a year we cannot be with you to celebrate. We really wanted to attend the ceremony, but recently, after a test, I was diagnosed with H1N1, that is swine flu...I have been asked to take rest and cannot go and attend any public function so I am skipping the event so that others do not contract it," Khan said with his wife and co founder of Paani Foundation Kiran Rao sitting next to him.
Aamir said he had asked his friend and fellow Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan to attend the event in his stead and that he was very grateful that SRK obliged.
The event 'Satyamev Jayate Water Cup 2017' was organised by Aamir's Paani Foundation and was attended by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Reliance Foundation founder Neeta Ambani and industrialist Rajiv Bajaj among others.
