Disha Patani and Sanya Malhotra
After Half Girlfriend's debacle, Mohit Suri recently announced his next which is a multi-starrer action thriller. Starring Aditya Roy Kapur, Disha Patani, Anil Kapoor, the movie has been titled Malang. Mohit calls it an intense and mad flick. However, do you know Dangal girl Sanya Malhotra was also in talks for the role played by Disha? The female character in Malang is a dancer, hence, Mohit was looking for an actress who can get into the skin of the character easily.
As Sanya is a dancer, she too was approached for the role but it was Disha who managed to bag the role. As per DNA, ''Mohit had spoken to Sanya for the film that had been in the planning for some time. The character is that of a dancer who knows several forms and can also manage action with ease. When he did workshops with Disha, he was bowled over by her dedication and felt she fit the role perfectly. He immediately signed her on for the gritty thriller.''
On a related note, Malang is a second collaboration between Aditya Roy Kapur and Mohit Suri. The actor-director duo last came together for 2013 blockbuster Aashiqui 2. In a statement to a daily, Mohit said, ''With Malang, I am essentially returning to genre I enjoy the most. It will be intense, edgy and mad. I hope Malang is as thrilling and exciting an experience for the audience to see as much as it has already been for me.”
Meanwhile, Sanya was last seen in Badhaai Ho, which impressed the audience and critics alike. The movie, which was based on the pregnancy of middle-aged woman and taboos around it set the cash registers ringing. The flick directed by Amit Sharma minted over Rs 100 crores at the box office. Sanya will next be seen in Ritesh Batra's Photograph, co-starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Meanwhile, Disha's next film is Salman Khan starrer Bharat, which is slated for this Eid release. The Baaghi 2 actress is playing a trapeze artiste in one of the most-awaited films of 2019. She will also be romancing Kartik Aaryan in Anees Bazmee's rom-com.
