An official adaptation of Marathi blockbuster Sairat, Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter starrer Dhadak has managed to woo everyone with their sparkling chemistry and innocent love story. Even the makers of the movie claim that one is sure to remember their first true love after watching the movie and this definitely shows through the box office numbers, that people are loving the movie. Dhadak managed to earn Rs 54 crores approx in the first week which is the highest for any newcomer movie.
Film critic and Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh took to social media to disclose the latest collection of the movie and wrote, “#Dhadak is back on track on second Sat... Growth on second Sat [vis-à-vis second Fri]: 54.02%... Expected to witness gains on second Sun too... [Week 2] Fri 2.61 cr, Sat 4.02 cr. Total: ₹ 58.19 cr. India biz.”
On the first day itself, the film managed to make two records. One, it became the highest opener for any film with debutantes in the lead and also the eight highest openers of this year.
Earlier in an Interview, when Janhvi was asked who gave her the best compliment so far for her performance, she said: "I got the best compliment from my director Shashank Khaitan when he told me that he is proud of me. But more than that, I feel the kind of overwhelming response that we are getting here is the biggest compliment for all of us".
Directed by Shashank Khaitan, Dhadak tells the tale of two youngsters who dared to love despite the caste and class differences. Janhvi Kapoor played the role of Parthavi, daughter of a politician while Ishaan Khatter essayed the role of Madhukar who belonged to a comparatively lower class.
