‘Raees’ and ‘Kaabil’, despite fighting the battle, both the movies have done a decent job in term of collection. Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Raees’ has successfully crossed the Rs 150 crore and Hrithik’s ‘Kaabil’ is also moving towards the big number.
According to media reports, ‘Raees’ has earned Rs 158.06 crore till now, whereas ‘Kaabil’ has fetched Rs 128.09 crore.
The first month of the year started with the box office clash of two big projects.
When the releases of both the movies were announced on the same date, people along with the makers were sceptical about their business. But, both the movies easily made it to the coveted Rs 100 crore club. However, SRK starrer earned the big number in just six days of its release whereas the latter took 11 days to reach there.
‘Raees’ had the huge opening of Rs 20.42 crore on its first day. ‘Kaabil’ on the other hand minted Rs 10.43 crore. Though, Hrithik’s film is lagging behind SRK but it is slowly moving towards Rs 150 crore.
‘Kaabil’ became the first film to be screened in Pakistan post ban. ‘Raees’ on the other hand will not be released in the neighbouring country because of unflattering depictions of Muslims.
With actor Akshay Kumar’s ‘Jolly LLB 2’ releasing this week, the collections of both the movie is expected to be affected. This is known to all that last year Akshay gave three blockbusters, ‘Airlift’, ‘Rustom’ and ‘Houseful 3’. If ‘Jolly LLB 2’ becomes successful to do good business then the collection of ‘Raees’ and ‘Kaabil’ may witness drop and this would be Khiladi Kumar’s fourth hit in a row.
