Deepika Padukone reveals she would love to play Marvel’s first Indian female superhero

Avengers: Endgame is all over the internet ever since its first trailer. On Thursday, the third trailer of the most awaited superhero film was dropped and at that time, Deepika Padukone was in London to unveil her wax statue at Madame Tussauds. During her media interaction there, the Padmaavat actress expressed her wish to play a female superhero in any of Marvel’s action film. Well, we would love to see Deepika Padukone pulling off a Captain Marvel avatar in a Marvel Studios film.

Talking to a leading daily there, she said, “Yeah, of course. Why not? I mean I’d say Indian origin. So whether it’s Marvel or whether it’s Avengers, or you know, any of these iconic characters that we’ve seen in cinema, I think it would be very interesting. And I think the world is ready for it to see one of these superheroes, one that originates from India. I believe it will happen soon. I know it will.”

Deepika Padukone will be starting the shoot for her next film Chhapaak in few days. The actress broke the news while talking to the media at the launch event. She said, “I start filming on my next film, it’s called Chhapaak. It’s a story inspired by the acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. It’s not a biopic it is inspired by her life and it’s directed by Meghna Gulzar, and we start working on that next week.”

Deepika Padukone was joined by her husband Ranveer Singh and her family at the launch event. The pictures of the actress with her wax figurine were doing rounds at the internet on Thursday.

Talking about her wax statue, Deepika said, “I mean, it’s something that you… I can’t even say something you dream of because, to be honest, as a little girl when I went there for the first time, I didn’t ever imagine that years later be going to unveil my own figure.”

“And I think more than, to me, I think it was an extremely overwhelming experience for my family.”

“My parents went there for the very first time more than 35 years ago, when they first got married. And then they took us again many years ago, when my sister and I were little kids. You go, you wait in a line, you buy your tickets and you go inside, I’ll never forget that moment. ‘And I didn’t ever imagine that, you know, a day will come when my figure will, you know, make its way there. It’s very, very surreal, exciting.”

On the work front, Deepika Padukone was last seen in Padmaavat in 2018. The actress was busy with her wedding with long-time boyfriend Ranveer Singh. This year, she will be marking her production debut with Meghna Gulzar’s Chhapaak.
