Ajay Devgn, Tabu and Rakul Preet Singh starrer De De Pyaar De is going slow and steady at the box office. The Akiv Ali directorial has minted Rs 61.05 crore so far. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to write latest figures. ''#DeDePyaarDe has two more weekends to score and pack an impressive total [till #Bharat arrives]... Fri 10.41 cr [incl Thu previews], Sat 13.39 cr, Sun 14.74 cr, Mon 6.19 cr, Tue 6.10 cr, Wed 5.74 cr, Thu 4.48 cr. Total: ₹ 61.05 cr. India biz. #DDPD #DeDePyaarDe has a healthy Week 1... Had a decent *extended* weekend, but covered lost ground with a strong run on weekdays... Weekend 2 is extremely crucial, since multiple new films will eat into the market share. #DDPD,'' he wrote. The movie has been co-written by Luv Ranjan.

De De Pyaar De earlier courted controversy for casting Alok Nath, accused of rape during India’s #MeToo movement. After much buzz, Ajay Devgn issued a statement clarifying his stance. “Everyone is aware that film-making is a collaborative process. The decision to replace Nath could never have been mine alone. In this case, I would have to go with the joint-decision of the entire unit. Not to forget, I could not have brought the entire combination of actors back or put up sets again for a 40-day re-shoot because this would mean doubling the budget, which again wasn’t my call to make. It would have to be the call of the makers. Had circumstances played out even slightly differently, I would have pushed for a different combination of actors. Unfortunately, this was not to be,” the actor wrote.

De De Pyaar De Review

Talking about the direction of De De Pyaar De, it was as lazy as the writing is. At the beginning of the second half, the film tried to redeem itself, only to spiral into a mess while reaching its end. The writer picks up on many topics but concludes none of them. Tabu talks about divorces and how they’re not as big a deal as people make it. Ajay Devgn's daughter talks about live-in relationships and Rakul gives a two-minute lesson on adultery. But the film’s premise is not strong enough to send out a message on any of them.

De De Pyaar De is enjoyable only if you have no other film to watch and you’re looking for a light film that requires no heavy-lifting. Read full review here.
