The much anticipated movie of the year ‘Dangal’ released a day before in US and Canada, and the numbers are the proof that the film has done wonders at international box office. The film has earned Rs. 2.21 cr in the opening day in US and Canada.
The film released today in India in more than 4,300 screens. It was the biggest release of the year and most of the multiplexes 80 -90 percent occupancy in the country. With the appreciation from critics and positive word of mouth, the Aamir Khan starrer will definitely make it to the coveted 100 crore club. ‘Dangal’ not only managed to impress national audience but its collection in international market is a proud moment for the entire cast.
Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to share the details with movie buffs. He tweeted, “Dangal [released in USA-Canada on Wed] embarks on a FLYING START… USA: $ 282,280 Canada: $ 42,816 Total: $ 325,096 [Rs. 2.21 cr] Rentrak.”
Taran tweeted another information, “Dangal takes a SUPERB start in key intl markets…UAE-GCC: Thu AED 2.5 million [â¹ 4.62 cr] UK: Thu previews £ 118,487 [â¹ 98.67 lacs].”
The coming days will decide the fate of the movie. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film is based on the story of Mahavir Singh Phogat. Besides Aamir, it also features Sakshi Tanwar, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra in prominent roles.
