Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor starrer Stree to get a sequel
Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor are on cloud nine these days because their latest film Stree has not just hit the right chord with the critics but it’s raining numbers on the box office as well. In the first weekend itself, the movie has earned over 31 crores. While the fans are already cherishing the first part, it is learned that Stree will have a sequel as well.
Dinesh Vijan, who bankrolled the horror comedy along with filmmakers Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, revealed in a statement to Bollywoodlife, “The film’s last two shots actually set up the sequel. When you watch the movie, you will understand that we intentionally had an open ending. Stree 2 will start off from there and explain those shots. We have written it as a franchise, so there will be a sequel. We are happy that the confidence in the content has paid off.”

The makers, as well as the actors, are thrilled with the response the movie is garnering. The story has made the audience laugh out loud and has scared them as well. Now the news of Stree 2 has made them even more excited. A lot of the portion in the second part will be a precursor to what happens in the first part. Dinesh explains, “Along with Shraddha’s backstory, a few other pertinent questions will be answered in the second installment. The cast will be retained, but there will be new inclusions too. Predominantly, it will still be driven by Raj and Shraddha’s characters.”
While Stree 2 is on cards, the movie will not be ready for two years. The Raabta director says, “We hope to go on floors with Stree 2 by the end of 2019. And hopefully, in two years, we will be ready with it.”
Other than Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, the film also stars Aparshakti Khurrana and Pankaj Tripathi.
